Overview

Vitamin B-12 (cobalamin) is a water-soluble vitamin that plays essential roles in red blood cell formation, cell metabolism, nerve function and the production of DNA.

Food sources of vitamin B-12 include poultry, meat, fish and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 is also added to some foods and is available as an oral supplement.

If you follow a selective, vegetarian or vegan diet, you might be prone to deficiency because plant foods don't contain vitamin B-12. Older adults and people with digestive tract conditions that affect absorption of nutrients also are susceptible to vitamin B-12 deficiency.

Left untreated, a vitamin B-12 deficiency can lead to anemia, fatigue, muscle weakness, intestinal problems, nerve damage and mood disturbances.

Why do I need B12 Jabs ?

  • Vitamin B12 helps in the healthy regulation of the nervous system which reduces symptoms of depression, stress & anxiety. It’s also helps to improve a persons general mood and symptoms associated with confusion and poor concentration levels.

  • Vitamin B12 helps the body convert carbohydrates into glucose which significantly increases energy levels and reduces fatigue & lethargy in the body.

  • Vitamin B12 helps to maintain a healthy digestive system and helps to control appetite, aid weight loss and regulate intestinal disturbances.

  • Vitamin B12 also helps prevent heart disease by curbing & improving cholesterol levels which in turn also helps prevent heart attacks, strokes & high blood pressure. B12 can help to protect the body from certain cancers such as Breast, Colon, Bowel, Prostate.

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency is common in certain dietary groups such as Vegans, Vegetarians, medical diets etc... but not exclusive. Anyone can have a B12 deficiency even if you have a healthy varied diet as many of us suffer with B12 malabsorption and don’t realise it.

  • B12 deficiency affects an astonishing 1 in 10 of us in the UK and is especially prevalent in those aged 65 & over. Vitamin B12 jabs are suitable for the majority of us and do not require a blood test before treatment. Even if you are not deficient the B12 Jab will give you a fantastic boost in general.

  • Vitamin B12 jabs are usually given every 4/6 weeks to maintain good levels in the body. Or just have a shot whenever you need a boost
